Le nouveau siège de la compagnie pharmaceutique internationale Novo Nordisk s’imposait déjà par son architecture impressionnante et moderne. Aujourd’hui, la conception lumière, signée des architectes Henning Larsen et récompensée par le « Lighting Award » danois en 2014, est tout aussi innovante. Les solutions LED, réalisées par Osram, apportent une contribution importante au projet d’éclairage architectural.
La plupart des solutions LED installées dans les deux bâtiments de bureaux du nouveau siège de Novo Nordisk ont été fournies par Osram : en particulier l’éclairage dynamique RGBW dans l’une des deux verrières, celui de la main courante de l’escalier, ainsi que les lumières blanches et colorées rasantes de l’auditorium. Toutes les solutions éclairage ont été développées en collaboration avec l’installateur et les ingénieurs au cours du processus de construction, avec un réglage in situ pour un parfait ajustement.
Des luminaires spécifiques au projet
Le plus grand défi pour Osram consistait à habiller le plafond d’une lumière la plus spectaculaire possible, tout en mettant un accent particulier sur les performances visuelles et l’ergonomie. L’éclairage LED du plafond dans l’atrium du bâtiment NN1 a été conçu afin de créer un contraste attrayant avec la lumière plus chaude au niveau du sol, de façon à donner aux visiteurs et aux employés l’illusion de ciel bleu et de lumière du jour.
Par ailleurs, il était important d’éviter les reflets gênants et d’obtenir une distribution lumineuse aussi douce et uniforme que possible en ce qui concerne l’éclairage LED bleu. Comme il était impossible de répondre à cette exigence à l’aide d’appareils d’éclairage standard, les chefs de projet Osram ont mis au point un tout nouveau concept de luminaire basé sur les modules LED LINEARlight innovants. Le résultat fut convaincant : lumière du jour et lumière artificielle s’entremêlent pour offrir un système d’éclairage homogène et donner l’impression de lumière naturelle sans qu’aucun appareil ne vienne obstruer les prises de lumière du jour. Les drivers innovants nécessaires à l’animation lumineuse, fournis par la filiale d’Osram Traxon, sont logés dans les locaux techniques jusqu’à 40 m de distance, ce qui les rend à la fois discrets et facilement accessibles.
Symbiose entre concept et lumière
Le concept d’éclairage a été imaginé à partir d’une vision et de plans architecturaux. Tout au long de l’élaboration du projet, l’objectif principal a consisté à intégrer le plus possible l’éclairage dans l’architecture. Ceci a créé une relation extrêmement forte entre l’architecture, le fonctionnel et la lumière.
L’ensemble du concept et tous les détails ont été mis en œuvre avec un degré élevé de précision, non seulement pour créer un véritable événement lumineux, mais aussi des niveaux de confort visuel exigeants. Les couleurs claires sélectionnées révèlent les matériaux, les formes et les couleurs, tandis que la lumière offre une répartition douce, diffuse et particulièrement homogène.
« L’éclairage fait partie de l’architecture et des équipements, tout en les soulignant et en les mettant en valeur, sans interférer cependant. Ce projet illustre parfaitement le concept d’un éclairage exceptionnel, notamment parce que ce n’est pas la lumière elle-même qui attire le regard, mais l’architecture et l’ambiance créée par l’éclairage », explique Anne Bay, présidente du jury et directrice du Centre danois pour la lumière, qui a remis le prix de l’éclairage danois 2014 à Novo Nordisk.

Osram: Interaction between lighting and architecture
The new headquarters of the international pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk are already impressive thanks to its modern architecture. Now the lighting concept, designed by Henning Larsen Architects and awarded by the 2014 Danish Lighting Award, is just as innovative. The LED lighting, which was implemented with the help of Osram, makes a significant contribution to this architectural lighting concept.
Most of the LED solutions in the two office buildings of the new Novo Nordisk headquarters come from Osram: especially the dynamic RGBW lighting in one of the two canopies of light, the whole handrail lighting on the stairs, and the white and colored grazing lights for the auditorium. All the lighting solutions were developed together with the contractor and the engineers during the construction process, with on-site adjustment for the perfect fit.
Project-specific luminaire concepts
The greatest challenge for Osram was to make the lighting canopy appear in the most spectacular light as possible, while putting a special focus on visual performance and ergonomics. The LED ceiling lighting in the atrium of building NN1 was designed to create an attractive contrast to the warmer light further down, and make visitors and employees associate it with blue sky and daylight.
It was important to avoid any annoying reflections, and for the blue LED lighting to distribute the light as softly and uniformly as possible. As this extremely demanding task could not be implemented using standard luminaires, the Osram project managers developed a completely new luminaire concept based on the innovative LINEARlight LED modules. The impressive result: daylight and artificial light mingle everywhere to give a homogeneous light unit and create the impression of natural light, without any visible fixtures for daylight openings.
The innovative drivers, which are necessary for the lighting display and are supplied by the Osram subsidiary Traxon, are housed in equipment rooms of up to 40 meters away, making them inconspicuous and easily accessible.
Symbiosis of design and light
The whole lighting concept was designed based on architectural visions and plans. During the design process, the main focus remained on incorporating the lighting into the architecture as much as possible. This created an extremely powerful connection between architecture, function and light. The whole concept and all the details have been implemented with a high degree of precision, not only creating true visual highlights, but also high levels of visual comfort. The selected light colors highlight materials and shapes. The light has an impressively gentle and soft effect wherever it needs to be particularly uniform.
“The lighting is part of the architecture and equipment, while supporting and enhancing them without coming to the fore. The project is a perfect example of exceptional lighting design, particularly because it is not the light itself that catches the eye, but the architectural unity and atmosphere created by the lighting”, explained Anne Bay, jury chairwoman and Managing Director of the Danish Center for Light, which handed over the 2014 Danish Lighting Award to Novo Nordisk.
