Considérant une situation mondiale dominée par la pandémie de Covid-19, les rassemblements interdits ainsi que les restrictions dans les déplacements qui en résultent, Messe Frankfurt, ses partenaires – ZVEI et ZVEH – de même que le conseil consultatif du Salon ont convenu d’ajourner la onzième édition de Light + Building pour retrouver son rythme habituel en 2022, du 13 au 18 mars. Light + Building, programmé à l’origine pour le mois de mars, a été contrecarré par la crise actuelle du coronavirus et la décision avait donc été prise de repousser le Salon leader mondial dédié à la lumière et à la technique des bâtiments au créneau du 27 septembre au 2 octobre.
D’un commun accord avec ses partenaires, Messe Frankfurt a subséquemment pris les mesures adéquates afin que cet événement décalé se déroule de manière optimale. Dix semaines après ce premier report et après une réévaluation de la situation présente, il est apparu qu’une préparation et une réalisation en bonne et due forme de la manifestation n’étaient pas garanties car le gouvernement fédéral et les länder ont conjointement décidé de ne pas autoriser le déroulement de grandes manifestations en Allemagne avant la fin août au plus tôt. Les réglementations concernant les voyages et les interdictions de rassemblements ont des répercussions cruciales dans l’organisation de manifestations de tout type. Et l’exigence du secteur mais aussi de l’économie dans son ensemble est à cet égard de réaliser un Salon phare mondial Light + Building en adéquation avec les attentes des clients, sa conception et une garantie de performance. Les circonstances actuelles ne permettent pas à Messe Frankfurt de satisfaire à cette exigence.
« Les conditions présentes en sus des restrictions globales maintenues en matière de voyages et d’une mise en danger potentielle de la santé des personnes rendent impossible une tenue de Light + Building en 2020« , observe Wolfgang Marzin. Dans le même temps et dans l’intérêt des exposants comme des visiteurs, nous nous devons de leur éviter en temps voulu des dépenses inutiles. Il nous a été difficile d’opter pour cette mesure mais nous réorientons maintenant notre énergie afin de préparer la mise en œuvre du prochain rendez-vous régulier de Light + Building en 2022. » Cette disposition impacte également Intersec Building. Plateforme entièrement consacrée à l’ingénierie de la sécurité connectée, ce format célébrera donc sa première édition en 2022 comme partie intégrante de Light + Building.
« Pour les entreprises des techniques d’éclairage et de la technologie des bâtiments, Light + Building revêt une importance toute particulière – les branches peuvent se projeter loin dans l’avenir grâce aux toutes dernières technologies. Autant nous regrettons d’annuler le Salon, autant nous adhérons à ce choix. Face aux multiples incertitudes et défis, il était juste de prendre maintenant cette décision commune, dans le dialogue et dans un esprit de partenariat« , commente Michael Ziesemer, président de l’Association allemande de l’électrotechnique et de l’électronique ZVEI.
Daniel Hager, président du groupement professionnel des systèmes d’installation électrique au sein de la ZVEI, ajoute : « Dans la situation actuelle, nous n’aurions pas pu vivre cet esprit positif, collaboratif et innovant qui est depuis toujours constitutif de Light + Building. En ce moment tout le monde a l’esprit ailleurs et la distanciation sociale ne sied guère à un Salon. C’est pourquoi nous devons tous tourner nos regards vers l’avenir: ce Salon doit rester le phare de notre branche et perdurer comme plate-forme d’échange qui regorge d’idées. Je suis convaincu qu’en mars 2022 nous bénéficierons pour la manifestation d’une meilleure base de départ, riche d’une énergie nouvelle. »
Manfred Diez analyse le contexte du point de vue du groupement professionnel de l’éclairage au sein de la ZVEI: « L’industrie de l’éclairage est un segment très innovant qui offre une foule de technologies et de produits nouveaux et Light + Building constitue l’un de nos principaux instruments pour les présenter à un vaste public. Afin qu’il le reste, nous devons tous agir de concert« , poursuit le président de ce groupement professionnel.
Lothar Hellmann, président de l’Association allemande des entrepreneurs en électricité et télématique ZVEH, souligne en parallèle : « Au fil des 20 dernières années, Light + Building est devenu ‘la’ plateforme qui concentre les informations et les technologies de tout le secteur. C’est l’intensité des échanges qui fait du Salon phare mondial un événement si incontournable. En dépit de toutes les possibilités qu’offre la communication moderne, rien ne remplace l’entretien personnel – voilà une expérience importante que nous faisons dans cette crise du Covid-19. C’est donc dans le plaisir de l’anticipation que j’attends Light + Building 2022 où la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique, l’électromobilité et la digitalisation constitueront des points forts essentiels. »
Holger Heckle, président de l’Association allemande des grossistes en matériel électrotechnique VEG, précise par ailleurs: « Nous pouvons pleinement comprendre cette option. Il est éminemment regrettable pour le secteur électrique que Light + Building ne puisse avoir lieu en 2020 et que nous devions nous passer de notre principal Salon cette année. Mais la santé est primordiale. »
Pour 2020, la branche doit donc reprendre son souffle afin de revenir encore plus puissamment – à Light + Building 2022 du 13 au 18 mars.
In view of the world-wide situation caused by the Corona pandemic, and the prohibitions on events and travel restrictions associated with it, Messe Frankfurt has decided, jointly with its partners – ZVEI and ZVEH – and with the Trade Fair Advisory Council, to defer the eleventh Light + Building and to hold it, in accordance with its normal sequence, from 13 to 18 March 2022.
Due to the present Corona crisis it had already not been possible to hold Light + Building 2020, originally scheduled for March, for which reason the decision was reached to postpone the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building services technology to the later date of 27 September to 2 October 2020. Messe Frankfurt, together with its partners, then initiated appropriate measures to carry out the event postponement as well as possible. Having considered the current situation again, and ten weeks after the initial postponement, in view of the joint decision by the Federal German Government and German States that major events cannot be held in Germany until at least the end of August, no properly scheduled preparation and holding of the event can be guaranteed. When holding events of all kinds, travel conditions and regulations prohibiting assembly play a central role. It is the aim of the industry, and of business in general, to hold Light + Building, as a leading world trade fair, in conformity with its customers’ expectations and in accordance with its conception and service commitment. At the moment Messe Frankfurt cannot guarantee that this aim can be assuredly achieved.
« The current regulations, combined with continued global travel restrictions and the potential threat to individual health, make it impossible to hold Light + Building in 2020 », states Wolfgang Marzin. « At the same time, in the interests of exhibitors and visitors, we must avoid unnecessary costs in good time. The decision has not been easy for any of us, but now we shall be directing our energies to holding the next Light + Building in its accustomed sequence in 2022. » The decision likewise affects Intersec Building. Now, as a platform for connected security technology, the format will celebrate its premiere as an integral part of Light + Building in 2022.
« Light + Building is of quite particular importance for companies engaged in lighting and building services technology – it is here that industries with the latest technologies look far into the future. However much we regret the cancellation, we are also in favour of it. Given the manifold uncertainties and challenges, it was right to make this decision now, jointly and in a dialogue between partners », is how ZVEI President Michael Ziesemer puts it.
The chairman of the ZVEI Association for Electrical Installation Systems, Daniel Hager, adds: « In the present situation we would not have been able to experience the positive, cooperative and innovative spirit which Light + Building has embodied from its very start. Everybody’s mind is elsewhere and social distancing is not suitable for a trade fair. So we should all look forward: the fair will continue to exist, as a beacon for the industry and as a platform rich in the exchange of ideas. I am sure: in March 2022, with new energy, we shall have a better starting point for the fair. »
Manfred Diez provides the following analysis from the perspective of the ZVEI Association for Light: « The light industry is a very innovative sector, with many new products and technologies. To show these to a broad public, Light + Building is one of our most important tools. To make sure it stays so », continues the Association’s chairman, « we must all pull together. »
At the same time ZVEH President Lothar Hellmann emphasised: « Over the past 20 years Light + Building has developed into ‘the’ information and technology platform for the industry. What makes this leading international trade fair so vital is the intensive exchange which takes place between its participants. That there is nothing to replace the personal meeting, despite all modern communication, has been a major experience during the Corona crisis. I am therefore looking forward with pleasurable anticipation to Light + Building 2022, at which climate protection, electromobility and digitalisation will provide a major focus. »
Holger Heckler also had some words to say on the matter. The chairman of the VEG (German Electrical Wholesalers’ Association) said: « We can perfectly understand this decision. It is really unfortunate for the electrical industry that Light + Building cannot be held in 2020 and we must manage as best we can without our most important trade fair. But health comes first. »
So for 2020 the task for the whole industry is to catch our breath, to come back all the stronger – at Light + Building 2022. Light + Building and Intersec Building will be held from 13 to 18 March 2022 in Frankfurt am Main.
